The Obstacle Course  

1 Corinthians 9:23-24  

Of course there's obstacles in faith.  Big, giant, difficult, perfect obstacles.  Every one is meant to be a training ground for your future faith, but not if we don't make it past the first hurdle.

I guess there's a big difference between those who are dressing up like Ninjas and those who mean business.  The same goes for faith - are we in it to win it, or are we wearing costumes at the contest?

Sometimes it is not the deep things that we find hard to fathom.  Sometimes it is the foundational things that are difficult to grasp because they are at odds with how we live our lives.  Salvation can be one of those things.

Sometimes a lot is asked or even demanded from us, it can make us bitter and reluctant.  But all this can be undone with a change of perspective - who we do it for and why.

There's an old saying, "as in the natural, so in the spiritual".  Growing pains are something that we experience in the natural, but when we aim to follow Christ, we can also experience spiritual growing pains.

We would love to think that our choices are our own and only affect us, but does that "knowledge" build anyone else up?  There may be choices in our lives that need to be made from another, higher perspective to help us accomplish a higher goal.

Since Adam had his Eve people have sought for completion in the pursuit of Romance.  But is there a higher perspective for relationships and marriage?  

 

Feeling Sow Sow  

2 Corinthians 9:5-7  

The great thing about a seed is its unlimited potential - unless you eat it.  Sow the seed and it will produce even more seeds, which can be resown and resown again - constant growth.  Unless you eat the all the seeds.  God wants us to be sowers and loving it.

That's a saying I've never needed encouragement in before a meal - I always love to eat.  But of course not all eating is good for us, so how do we learn to balance what we need with what is good for us?

The movie creates a scenario where there are limited resources and only one winner.  A metaphor for life?  It sounds like hell but it's the way we are trained to live on planet earth.  Surely God has something better than hunger?
