What are our expectations?  What do we expect of ourselves?  What do we expect of God?  Maybe those expectations are wrong.

We all want to be better, do better, have better.  Better people, fitter, healthier, richer, smarter, more successful etc.  It seems so difficult at times to find the right formula to acheive our best.  As the new year begins, how hard do we need to try to reach our dreams and goals, or God's?

Have you ever heard the saying, “throwing the baby out with the Christmas tree?”  No, of course not, I made it up.  But I still want to know, can we clean up our Christmas and still keep the celebration?  I mean, would a less complicated faith make us happier? 

 

The Down-side to Tinsel 

Colossians 2:16-17 

Christmas Traditions are fantastic ways to embed the celebration of Jesus' birth in our calendar, but is there a down side to all the habits?  Likewise, Christian tradition can hold us dearly to our Saviour through life, or become a road block to genuine intimacy with Him. 

 

Faithfulness - Ben Delaney 

Faith and faithfulness.  What is the difference?  Why are we encouraged to have both?  How does it look in our lives?  How do we obtain faith and faithfulness?  Life is not the same without them. 

 

How Can I Control Myself?

It's crazy that we don’t have control over ourselves. The Holy Spirit is shining light in dark corners of the urges that drive us, leaving us with the power to finally govern ourselves.

Can we survive a world that is increasingly godless?  The Holy Spirit is leading us to be righteous without being self-righteous. 

 

How Can I Handle Difficult People?

Some people suck the life out of you.  The Holy Spirit is helping us navigate the vampire crypt with our life blood intact. 

The Spirit of Transformation  

We love to achieve, it makes us feel good about ourselves knowing that we can do something well.  When pay day comes along we like to feel as though we've earned it.  We have an inner drive to be better people.  God has His pay day for us as well, but what does He require of us to be deserving of the wages?
